Methodology

EKX.AI scans market data from major exchanges in real-time to detect trending patterns worth watching.

Last updated: 4/18/2026

Core Concept

We don't predict market direction. We simply answer one question: "What is behaving unusually?" Anomalies don't equal opportunities, but patterns worth watching often start with anomalies.

Trend Definition

Trends are ranked by volume/momentum/volatility; EMA20 is a confirmation tag, not a hard filter.

Three Anomaly Types

🔥

Volume Spike

24-hour trading volume exceeds the 7-day average by 3x or more. This often indicates unusual accumulation or distribution activity.

volume_24h > avg_volume_7d × 3
📈

Breakout

Price breaks above the 30-day high or below the 30-day low. Breakouts often signal the start of a new trend.

price > high_30d OR price < low_30d
⚡

Volatility Surge

1-hour price volatility exceeds the 24-hour average by 2x or more. High volatility often precedes significant price moves.

volatility_1h > avg_volatility_24h × 2

Data Sources

  • Crypto: major spot exchanges (Binance / Gate)
  • Stocks/Commodities: Twelve Data or Marketstack (free tier)
  • Forex: Frankfurter (ECB) or Twelve Data (free tier)

⚠️ Important Disclaimer

  • Anomalies indicate patterns worth watching, not investment advice
  • Past anomalies do not guarantee future performance
  • Always do your own research and manage risk
  • Crypto trading involves high risk; you may lose your entire investment

Technical Details

Volume Calculation

Compares 24h quote volume (USDT) against 7-day daily average volume.

Breakout Detection

Uses 30-day daily close high/low as breakout reference points.

Volatility Calculation

Volatility = (High - Low) / Close × 100%, comparing 1h vs 24h average.

Liquidity Filter

Only includes pairs with 24h volume ≥ $500,000.
